#10 Part 2

These are the offerings I have from yesterday after I worked on #10 in Learning 2.0.
I'm still trying to get my head around blogs and how to post. I suppose it's all
with time and practise.

Anyway, the top three are images I used from LetterJames, one of the image generators we were to try out and the little fantasy pony is from one of the sites off The Generator Blog. You have to make a combination of colour choices for both a mother and father fantasy horse and if they had a pony this is supposed to be what it looks like. Just thought it was fitting to have a horse/pony theme for Melbourne Cup day yesterday.

By the way, Half Man Half Biscuit are a real band. They're from the UK. Check them out on iTunes. Especially their albums Achtung Bono and the Cammel Laird Social Club. Possibly two of their best albums.

#10 Play around with Image Generators

I've just played around with the Image Generators and had some fun and some frutration. The Generator blog has some great stuff and I had a look at a number of things. I played around with a few things that I didn't have to sign up for and I even have something to show for it. Well I thought I did because i can't get the images I mde in letterjames.com and in the fantasy pony site in Generator blog off the PC I'm working on. AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!

If I can figure out what I've done wrong I'll have to post them later. Otherwise you'll just have to take my word for it.

The FD Toys I found a little frustrating because I didn't have any photos to use.
Hang on just had a thought. You may not see it in today's post because I'm running out of time, but I might try to figure out which items I could use in FD Toys so I can show the images I produced using the other two image generators today.

P.S. If you haven't already done so check out some of the name generators in Generator Blog, they're an absolute crack up. I had a go at the name generator that works out an elf name for you and frankly I'm keeping mine to myself. Yeah I know that's not fair, but hey at least in Elf Land I'll know who I am.

#7, #8, #9 RSS Feeds

Oops, I blogged about #7 on the 26th of October and got all excited because I thought that I had finished this bit of 2.0 and have just realised that I haven't blogged about #8 and #9.


I've just counted and I have a total of 15 RSS feeds and I can honestly say that six out of the 15 feeds are all library/literature related. I have added some of the library related feeds as suggested and I thought I'd add in an extra, 'The Warrior Librarian'. However when I looked I couldn't see the RSS feed symbol anywhere on the site. If I simply haven't looked properly and someone finds the RSS feed symbol, please feel free to leave a comment. I thought the Warrior librarian would be a good one for some lunchtime stress relief.

#6 Flikr fun, etc

My apologies but I forgot to post about Flickr Fun, etc. I've had a go at it this afternoon and being a bit of a dog fan I found a fun site where you can make up comic strips with photos already posted on the site. So have a look and hopefully a bit of a chuckle.

Mary Ellen Bates

This is a quick message for week Three Blogging and specifically in relation to information and technology. Some of you out in Library Land may have already heard of her or even had the opportunity to meet her. I hope it was the latter because I thought she was great.

I'm talking about Mary Ellen Bates. She is from America and has a business specialising in business research and research training for businesses. When I got to meet Mary Ellen she had come to Australia to run sessions on Power Training with the Pros. She was funny, very informative and very interesting to listen to. Mary Ellen has extensive experience in specialised libraries and in research, especially online research.

If you get a chance check out her blog, which many of you probably already know about called Librarian of Fortune and also look at her website www.BatesInfo.com. Where are the links? Hey, I haven't go to that weeks training yet.

Anyway, after checking out Mary Ellen's website sign up for her online newsletters. I get regular online newsletters with useful information regarding search tips, websites to check out and generally anything to do with exploring the web. The most recent contribution I received was about language translation sites. This couldn't have come at a better time for me because I may be heading to South Africa in October next year for a wedding. There are a number languages spoken in South Africa but the people I will be meeting are Afrikaan. So I was able to have a bit of a play around with a couple of the sites and found some basic phrases I might need. Then if I want to get serious about trying to learn some more I can download from one of the suggested websites.
